Add the SpeakerSplit connector to Claude, give it a link to your recording, and ask for a transcript. Claude gets every line back labelled with who said it, then summarises it, quotes it or answers questions about it.

Can Claude transcribe audio on its own?

Claude chats take documents and images, not audio files. The SpeakerSplit connector closes that gap: Claude sends the recording to SpeakerSplit and reads the transcript back into the chat.

Set it up in Claude

  1. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose "Add custom connector".
  3. Paste the address https://speakersplit.io/mcp
  4. Choose "Connect".
  5. Sign in to SpeakerSplit and press "Allow".

Getting your recording to Claude

Paste a public link to the file. For a file on your computer, Claude Code can use create_upload to send it to SpeakerSplit first.

What to type

  • "Transcribe this recording:" and paste the link.
  • "Transcribe this interview. The speakers are Jane Doe and Sam Lee."
  • "Transcribe this podcast, then write show notes with timestamps."
  • "Give me VTT subtitles for this video."

What you get back

  • Every line labelled with who said it. Say who is in the recording, up to 10 people, and the labels use their names.
  • The transcript as plain text, Markdown, JSON, or SRT and VTT subtitles timed to the speech.
  • Recordings up to 4 hours long, audio or video.

Common questions

Can I upload an audio file to Claude?

Not as a chat attachment. Paste a public link to the file instead, or use Claude Code, which can send a file from your computer to SpeakerSplit through the connector.

Does it work in Claude Code?

Yes. Run claude mcp add --transport http speakersplit https://speakersplit.io/mcp once, then ask Claude Code to transcribe a file.

Can Claude make subtitles from the transcript?

Yes. Ask for SRT or VTT subtitles and Claude fetches them, timed to the speech, from the same job at no extra cost.
